What is LEED?

- Water Efficiency – measures to reduce potable water use, promote reuse, and minimise runoff.
- Energy and Atmosphere – optimising energy performance, integrating renewable energy, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
- Materials and Resources – selecting sustainable materials, reducing construction waste, and promoting recycling and reuse.
- Indoor Environmental Quality – enhancing occupant health and comfort through air quality, lighting, thermal comfort, and acoustics.
- Innovation – recognising exemplary performance or innovative sustainability strategies beyond the standard credits.
- Regional Priority – awarding points for addressing environmental challenges that are particularly relevant in the project’s geographic context.
Points are earned across these categories, which determine the certification level: Certified, Silver, Gold, or Platinum. This flexible, credit-based approach allows project teams to focus on strategies most relevant to their context and ambitions while still achieving recognised sustainability outcomes.
