- Project Size: 15,000 Sq ft
- Location: Belfast
- Activity: Office Design & Fitout
- Duration: 16 Weeks

CLIENT BRIEF
Opentext Belfast wanted to create a modern, flexible, collaborative workspace that would meet the needs of its employees and position Belfast as a centre of excellence within the wider organisation.
The current office had become tired and in need of modernisation, and post-covid, was no longer facilitating the company’s growth and flexible working patterns, or supporting their collaborative working style. The current design was desk heavy resulting in wasted and unused space. The company was also about to embark on a reduction of their office space, moving from three floors to two floors without any reduction in staff numbers, and therefore a carefully constructed design was required to facilitate this new way of working whilst also planning for future company growth.

The project included a M&E package which was coordinated within our interior fitout programme. The air conditioning unit was successfully craned onto the roof of the building on a quiet early Sunday morning, with the team organising cranes and road closures and working as efficiently as possible to ensure minimal disruption to the surrounding area.
The design brief was to create a modern and vibrant workspace that would act as a hub for innovation and collaboration. The Calibro design team delved deep into what the Opentext leadership team wanted to achieve from the space and create an open-plan layout with a mix of private offices, meeting rooms, and collaborative spaces. The new layout would enable staff to work in a flexible and agile manner, promoting teamwork and creativity.

The design team also proposed a range of modern and stylish furniture and fittings that would add to the aesthetic appeal of the space. We introduced elements of colour and texture, incorporating a mix of soft and hard seating areas, to create an inviting and comfortable atmosphere. Focused on implementing sustainable practices throughout the project, the Calibro team ensured to dispose of all unwanted fixtures, fittings and furniture from the old office in a sustainable manner.

The transformation of OpenText’s Belfast office has been resounding success. The new space is a far cry from the tired and traditional office that had existed before. The new layout enables staff to work in a flexible and agile manner, promoting collaboration and creativity. The new furniture and fittings added to the aesthetic appeal of the space, making it a comfortable and inviting place to work.
