PROJECT CASESTUDY
Modernising an Industrial Workplace to Attract and Retain Top Talent

JJ Loughran, Cookstown
- Project Size: 2,000 Sq ft
- Location: Cookstown
- Activity: Office Design & Fitout
- Duration: 6 weeks

JJ Loughran are the UK and Ireland’s largest and most diverse Electrical and Mechanical engineering business.

JJ Loughran engaged Calibro to design and fitout a newly built space at their headquarters in Cookstown in their efforts to attract and retain top talent.
The fitout was in response to growth experienced in recent years as they support a roster of high-profile clients, with a forecast 40% increase in their workforce by 2026.
The design concept sought to bring a contemporary feel to the industrial, heritage brand and represent what they stand for, innovative solutions. A modern, neutral colour palette featuring greys and black was used throughout, complemented by oak accents, to create a lively aesthetic. The brand red adds contrast and visual interest to the space.

The area features an open plan workspace that supports collaboration and team cohesiveness, complemented by a client greeting area, individual offices, meeting space and a teapoint for the team.
The exposed ceiling adds an element of authenticity and is a nod to the industrial nature of the business operations. The use of two different flooring styles provides a clear walkway around the space and is hardwearing to endure traffic from the workshop floor. The wooden slats along the partitioned wall have acoustic backing to provide noise-reduction properties and absorb ambient sound levels from the open plan office space.
