PROJECT CASE STUDY
Enhancing Employee Wellbeing
Forsa, Dublin

- Location: Dublin

- Duration: 6 weeks
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Long-standing client Forsa approached us to refurbish their existing breakout space in their Dublin HQ at Nerney’s Court.
Originally designed and fitted out by Calibro in 2017, the team had since outgrown the space and having established an elevated brand execution during the full redevelopment of their Limerick HQ, they wanted Calibro to bring this aesthetic through to the Dublin site.
A key focus for the project was to create a space that would encourage staff to step away from their desks, providing much needed respite during the workday.
SPACE PREPARATION
The first order of business was to extend the space, absorbing an adjacent meeting room to allow for more seating and bring more natural light into the area. We then created a lobby space between the existing meeting room and breakout space, to allow for a sound barrier between the two areas and independent access to the facility’s telecommunications room.
We then completed refurbishment works, including a mechanical and electrical package, plumbing works and bespoke joinery.
DESIGN SPECIFICATION
In line with the scheme we developed for Forsa Limerick, the palette featured more natural textures, tones and materials, and subdued brand colours.
We sought to bring the outside in with biophilia and lighting that mimicked natural daylight.
The marble finish on the worktops added a premium look and feel, extended through to the splashback tiles for a seamless look.
The dark ceiling feature across the teapoint and island was introduced to create visual separation, complete with acoustic baffles for sound absorption and LED lighting, complemented by the dark blue, glazed tiles applied to the entry point. White was then used to keep the space light, adding a crisp, modern finish.
White glazed tiles were applied to the wall opposite the island, with handblown glass sconce lighting fixtures to create ambience and bring in a hospitality feel.
JOINERY AND FURNISHINGS
Oak was chosen for both aesthetics and durability, bringing warmth to the space.
Bespoke banquet seating was designed to provide an alternative seating option for those using the space, with generous cushioning upholstered in camira.
Several seating arrangements were dispersed throughout the space, with different finishes in line with the elevated brand look and feel, with a modern, minimalist design.
ENHANCING EMPLOYEE WELLBEING
The new space brings a sense of calm and restoration to the team during the workday, providing a comfortable environment for downtime.
Team members have reported feeling more refreshed and focussed after spending time in the space and even opt to use it for some visitor meetings due to the design and ambience it offers.
Calibro are always very responsive to our project enquiries. They were able to quickly scope out a project plan and design to deliver a major upgrade to what was a tired, well-worn breakout space.
The transformation is phenomenal. Many have commented that they cannot believe it’s the same space!
As always, Calibro delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality of workmanship.
