A Step Change for StepStone Group

Calibro have been engaged by private markets investment firm, StepStone Group (Nasdaq: STEP), to design and fitout their new headquarters at One Haddington Buildings, Dublin.

The project involves a full CAT B fitout of the top floor, creating a new home for the team that facilitates current ways of working and enhances the employee experience.

The move to One Haddington is in response to growth the firm has experienced in recent years, with provisions for further growth to future-proof the space.

Design Considerations

Consideration was given to the demographics and preferred working styles of the team to ensure the space will allow them to perform at their best. The floor plan will include an expansive breakout space that can facilitate townhalls, various collaboration areas and lounge settings, meeting rooms, focus areas, and a small number of individual offices. It also allows the full team to be housed on one floor for greater cohesion and teamwork.

Beyond space planning, the design scheme integrates the brand colour palette and ties into the locality throughout to create a sense of belonging among employees. Biophilic design principles have been applied, providing areas of refuge for people to switch-off, using preserved planting, natural textures, and maximising natural light throughout the space. Ergonomic furnishings, including almost 50% sit/stand desking has been specified for added flexibility and comfort.

Sustainability was a key consideration throughout the design specification process, considering the manufacturing process, recycled content, and circularity of materials across furniture, flooring and finishes. We strategically planned around the existing CAT A chilled beam system to avoid further unnecessary works and minimise environmental impact during the construction phase.
